Bdo Easy Way to Learn Your Combos
The Corsair is the latest class to be introduced in Black Desert Online and being a pirate-themed character, she made quite a splash. Not only does that theme make her unique as far as all characters go, but she's also proven herself to have a steep learning curve compared to other classes. Common inputs point to her skills being difficult to aim and low damage but that's to be expected for a new character that's still undergoing balance changes.
In the right hands, the Corsair can quickly become a slippery otter cruising the battlefield and annoying targets. Such is the case for her usefulness in PvP. In PvE, She needs a little more effort so you can grind mobs faster using her skillset. In any case, if you still find yourself scratching your head over some of the Corsair's mechanics and utility, then these tips should clear things up.
9/9 You Can Use Her To Traverse Water Fast
As is fitting for a pirate or maritime-themed class, the Corsair has some abilities that let her skim or slide over water in more than a biblical manner. The most notable are her three abilities, the default glide or forward dash for some classes, and her two break skills.
It usually goes with starting with the double glide followed by the first break ability and then proceeding to do another two double glides before using her break skill again. Chaining these together allows her to run or slide on water surfaces. At the very least, this sort of gimmick is much faster than swimming and looks cool.
8/9 Use Her Big Retreat Distance To Your Advantage
Speaking of the Corsair's movement abilities which allow her some uncanny traversal movements, the break skills are some of the most versatile survival tools she can use to her advantage. The first break skill she has, the one that pushes her back, has impeccable range when compared to other classes' break skills.
They also deal a bit of damage to the aggressors in front. You can opt to use this ability to continuously harass enemies during a Node War or Siege. As it is, it's a great way to bait someone into attacking and pulling them into your guild's pack. Meanwhile, the second break skill has a forward variation and is useful for chasing.
7/9 She's One Of The Most Mobile Classes
You've probably already inferred this by now; the Corsair is a highly mobile class that almost has no gaps when it comes to movements. She can chain up her fast and long-range traversal and closing abilities to not only catch up to running enemies but also avoid incoming danger.
Her glide or double glide/forward dash, for example, has a space bar variant that allows her to do a nifty little sidestep to catch attackers off-guard. Plenty of her movement abilities also have low cooldowns. This helps a lot in letting you continue movement without much math or worries involved.
6/9 Her Dodge Chains Make Her Nearly Impossible To Stun
The Corsair's movement abilities are not just for movement. They also mostly double up as a way to dodge enemies and to "iframe" into enemy attacks. All you have to do is to experiment with a friend to find out which of these abilities have iframes.
As we mentioned before, the Corsair has low-cooldown movement and dodge abilities. Her backward break skill also pushes her back from a considerable distance. That's why when it comes to piloting the Corsair, it pays to train with her movements first instead of focusing on which combos deal damage the fastest or highest.
5/9 Pack Up Tons Of MP Potions Or MP Recovery On Your Gear
Now, here's a downside when you're using the Corsair and are making good mileage out of her movement abilities. She's way too dependent on stamina. She has the same problem as the Ranger during her pre-Awakening or Succession where the most powerful attacks consume too much stamina.
Thankfully, you can alleviate this problem with MP Potions. You'll just need to add the MP Potion key tap into your movement combos. Better yet, if you can find some MP Recovery on Hit items for the Corsair, then that's a better way to deal with her stamina issues. Incorporating both is a good failsafe option.
4/9 Be Careful When Using Her Mermaid Abilities
One common gripe with the Corsair is that her fast attacks don't exactly cover good ground. Their range is rather short or it can be difficult to aim her attacks at a frontal target. For this, she has her so-called mermaid skills (any skill that transforms her into a mermaid) - they're decent AoE attacks.
The problem with these mermaid skills is that Corsair enjoys them too much and it will lock her into an animation. That animation more often than not doesn't have any iframes or invulnerability windows. This opens her up for some frustrating crowd control and wasted opportunity. She can break free from that crowd control fast but it takes a while to get used to this setup.
3/9 Some Of Her Attacks Have Long Wind-up
In addition to the mermaid abilities' long animations, some of the Corsair's other skills (even the non-mermaid ones) can be fiddly to use. Her attacks have some of the longest and most inconvenient wind-ups in the game. Sure, some of them have iframes or Super Armor, but the wind-up makes it so that the enemies can see them coming from a mile away.
Needless to say, the Corsair telegraphs her skills pretty obviously. Before the updates, this issue was worse as her damage was lower but it's not too apparent now that her Awakening is out. Just take note of this shortcoming.
2/9 It Takes A While To Get Used To Her Attack Range
Pre-Awakening, and even in some of her Awakening abilities, one of the reasons the Corsair has quite a steep learning curve is due to her clunky attack ranges. Some attacks, especially those that target frontal enemies, can miss easily since it's hard to judge the distance of her attack animations.
Getting close to them can easily turn into a bad experience as well since the Corsair moves fast and has a tendency to overextend her gap-closer skills. Getting into the right range and the right angle for the attacks is what you'll want to practice with.
1/9 You Can Give Her A Near-Permanent Super Armor
What the Corsair lacks in her damage, she can make up for with great survivability or evasion. She has plenty of skills that grant her Super Armor or an in-game ability to withstand crowd control attacks without flinching or staggering.
In fact, some good Corsair players reckon they can even chain up her skills that grant Super Armor in a way that gives her that permanent buff. Thanks to her low cooldowns, this isn't exactly difficult to achieve. The skills with the Super Armor tag are easy enough to find anyway, making experimentations simple.
